| Scientific Name: Glyptoperichthys gibbiceps L083, L164, L196 |
| Common Name: Red Spot Pleco, Gibby |
| While the common pleco maybe the granddaddy of the tank my
Gibby is the young upstart, he grew at an amazing rate after I added him
to the tank a few years ago and is now slightly larger than my common
pleco but seems to have stopped growing. Here in New Zealand they are sold
as Red Spot Plecos and are fairly readilly avaialble from most pet stores.
The grow quickly and produce a lot of waste. Gibby is allways first to the
food at feeding time and eats practically everything I have tried feeding
him. He gets on with all the other pleco's in the tank and seems peacefull
with all other fish depsite his size. |
