| Scientific Name:Botia Rostrata |
| I originally had a pair of these characters, the body
patternign appelaed to me. Somewhere along the way 1 dissapeared. A very
striking fish quite happy to school with the Cory's or Clown loaches. |
| Scientific Name:Acantophthalmus myersi – Giant Khuli Loach |
| These fellows are a bit of a mystery, as far as I can
remember I have had them in various tanks for some 15 odd years. Not being
sure how long they actually live I can only presume they have breed one or
more times. I think I have around 6 or 7 of them but Im not actually sure.
They are a lot broarder of body than a normal Khuli loach and about 25%
longer in length. They love frozen shrimps and prawns and are never slow
to find fallen blood worms. |

The gang of 4, the character of these fish is unbeleivable, talk about
posers. Every time I get the camera out they seem to spend all their time
sneaking into shots of other fish. They constantly scrap amoungst
themselves, and eagerly school with anything moving. I got them to control
a problem with excess snails in the tank but they seem to prefer to steal
all the bloodworms as fast as possible, usually while the block is still
frozen at the surface of the tank. I owned a few clowns about 10 years ago
and had problems with them nipping off plants just above gravel level,
hopefully these new additions to the tank will resist that temptation. |
